Biible Memory Verse:
“Even the wind and waves obey Him!” Mark 4:41
WHAT IS A MIRACLE? (wonderful happening that is beyond the laws of nature) WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MIRCALE JESUS DID THAT YOU HAVE LEARNED ABOUT? (healing paralytic, blind man) Jesus healed many more people than are even the Bible tells about. The book of John in the Bible says, “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” John 21:25
This week we are going to talk about some of the miracles Jesus did.
The people knew that everyone that came to Jesus was healed. He also told them many things about God. Great crowds followed Jesus everywhere He went.
One day He gave orders to His disciples to leave the crowds of people and to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee in boats. When they were on the sea, a great storm arose. The wind was blowing, and the waves beat into the boat so that the boats were filling with water and they were in danger. Jesus was asleep in a boat. His disciples woke Him saying, “Lord, save us! We are going to drown.” Matthew 8:25
Then Jesus got up and said to the winds and the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” Mark 4:39 Then the wind died down and it was completely still.
Then He said to His disciples, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Matthew 8:26
And the disciples were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!" Mark 4:41
One day there were so many people all the time, that Jesus and His disciples didn’t even have time to eat. Jesus said to His disciples, “Come with me to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31
So He and His disciples got in a boat and went to a lonely place. When the crowds of people learned of it, they followed them. They ran from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus saw the crowds of people, He felt sorry for them because they seemed so worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. They wanted so much to hear what He had to teach them, so He began to teach them many things.
When it grew late, Jesus’ disciples came to Him and said, “This is a remote (lonely) place, and it is already very late. Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” Mark 4:35-36
Jesus said, "You give them something to eat."
The disciples said, “That would take eight months of a man’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat? Mark 4:37
“How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked. "Go and see.”
They said, “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish.” Matthew 14:17
Jesus said, "Bring them here to me." And He ordered the crowd to sit down on the grass. They sat down in groups of fifty and of hundreds.
Taking the five loaves and two fish He looked up to heaven and blessed and broke them to set before the people. They all ate and were satisfied. And after they were finished, the disciples took up 12 baskets of broken pieces. There were 5,000 men besides women and children.
Jesus didn’t want people to only remember that he could give them food to eat. One time He even went away to hide because the people wanted to force Him to be king. He came to tell people about heaven–not to make their life on earth perfect. The Bible only tells about two times when He made a great deal of food out of little and both those times was when it was really necessary.
After Jesus had fed the 5,000 people, He made His disciples get in a boat and go ahead of him to another town while He went into the hills to pray.
When evening came the boat was in the middle of the lake and He was alone on land. During the night Jesus went out to them walking on the water. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said and cried out in fear.
But Jesus immediately said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Matthew 14:27
Then Peter, one of the disciples, said, “Lord, if its you, tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” He said.
Then Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” He said, “Why do you doubt?”
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him saying, “Truly, You are the Son of God.”
