* LESSON

* LESSON: CREATION

Bible Memory Verse:

Today we are going to learn about how the world began. The first verse in the Bible says: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” When the Bible says: “In the beginning”, it means in the beginning of the earth. God had no beginning. God always was and always will be. He was never created. God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) created the heavens and the earth. There is only one God, but God is three persons.

Jesus was never created. He has always been and He always will be. He came to earth as a little baby, but He lived in heaven before that. So when we talk about God creating the earth, we are saying that God the Father, God the Son, who is Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit all created the earth.

God is all wise. He is everywhere and He knows everything–everything that happened in the past, everything that is happening now everywhere, even what we are thinking, and everything that will happen in the future. No wonder man cannot understand God completely. We only know a little bit compared to God.

God is so great and powerful. He needed only to speak and by the power of His words the heavens and earth weremade. Can man make something out of nothing? No, man can make many wonderful things, but he can only make things out of material that God has made. Only God has the power to make something out of nothing. What did God make by His great power?

In the beginning, by speaking, God made the heavens and the earth out of nothing. Water covered everything and it was dark.

DAY ONE: “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning–the first day.”

DAY TWO: “And God said, ’Let there be an expanse (space) between the waters to separate the water from the water.’ So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it…God called the expanse, ‘sky.’ And there was evening and there was morning–the second day.”

DAY THREE: “And God said, ‘Let the waters under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear…God called the dry ground ‘land’ and the gathered waters he called ‘seas.’ Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation…plants bearing seeds according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning–the third day.”

DAY FOUR: “…God made two great lights –the greater light to govern the day (WHAT WOULD BE THE GREATER LIGHT TO GOVERN THE DAY?) and the lesser light to govern the night (WHAT WOULD BE THE LESSER LIGHT TO GOVERN THE NIGHT?). He also made the stars…And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning–the fourth day."

DAY FIVE: “…God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing…in the sea and the birds and every creature that flies and God …said, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth…’”

DAY SIX: "…God made the wild animals according to their kind, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

God made the most special part of all–people. God made man out of the dust of the earth and He made him perfectly. Then God breathed on man and He came alive. Man was made in the image of God which meant that he could think and plan and decide what he wanted to do–things that animals cannot do. Then God put the man, whom He named Adam, in charge of the earth that he had created. The first responsibility He gave man was to name the animals. Imagine what a big job that would be–naming every animal, bird and fish that God had made. But among everything that God had made, there was no helper suitable for Adam. God put Adam in a deep sleep and while he slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in that place. Then He fashioned out of that rib a woman. When Adam saw the woman, he named her Eve. She was made like man, in that she too was the image of God. They were living souls that would never die. They could know and love God and talk to Him. God made them a beautiful garden to live in with trees, fruit, vegetables and rivers flowing through it. Everywhere they looked, they were reminded of how great God is.

Like God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, man is also made of three parts: body, soul and spirit. The Bible shows us this: “May God himself, the God of peace sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “For who among men know the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God” 1 Corinthians 2:11 Our body is what you see. Our soul is our mind or our thinking and our feeling and emotions. Our spirit is the part of us that relates to God.

DAY SEVEN: Let’s read in the Bible in Genesis 2:2-3 what God did. WHAT DID GOD DO? He rested. We have a seven day week because God first had a seven day week. He had worked hard creating everything the first six days and He was pleased with His work. God rested on the seventh day. That is a good example for us to follow. It is good for us is we spend one day a week resting and worshiping God.

QUESTIONS:

* HANDOUT #1:

CREATION Bible Memory Verse:

Words to choose from: ADAM, JESUS, 1, 3, 5, 6, EVE, GOOD, NAME, RESTED

1. __ __ __ __ __ was never created.

2.
